ABOUT SPEAKER
QUICK BIO
Mark helped to establish the Oxford Mindfulness Centre in 2008. After this, he developed a ‘social mindfulness programme’, Mindfulness-Based Organisational Education as an independent practitioner. This programme curriculum has been recognised by the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches and the Dutch Mindfulness Teachers’ Association as a new class of Mindfulness-Based Programmes (MBPs) with short, mindfulness meditations.
This creates opportunities for others to develop new short MBPs for non-therapeutic contexts.

DESCRIPTION
Mark will speak about how ‘social mindfulness’ informs listening. There are two elements to this process: the practitioner pays attention to body-based feelings and notices the way the mind mentalises self and others. In many ways, there is nothing new in this! Perhaps the key difference is in understanding ‘mindfulness’ as a natural social, embodied experience, and that stress is a natural response to maladapted social and economic causes.
